frequently asked questions

What is manual therapy?

Manual therapy is hands-on treatment that physical therapists utilize to improve your mobility, the quality of your body's function, and even the healing capacity of your whole body. Our physical therapists are uniquely trained to assess and evaluate your body and correlate those findings to the appropriate treatment. They have received extensive post-doctorate education in manual therapy. Treatment can include but is not limited to mobilization of soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and organs), joint mobilization, manipulation, percussion, and manual facilitation of muscles and efficient movement patterns.

How long are sessions?

An evaluation session is 60 minutes long and follow-up sessions will be 90 minutes, 60 minutes, or 30 minutes long.

What should I expect at an evaluation session?

At your first appointment, we will begin with a conversation to gain a clear understanding of the problem and goals for your time at physical therapy.

Along with a full-body assessment, we will create a treatment strategy personalized for your needs and begin treatment.

I've tried everything. How are you any different?

At Idaho Physio, we approach the body as a whole. Everything in the body is connected and we will find the source of your pain and use techniques and corrections to give you lasting results. Each and every treatment session is one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Your appointment time is yours alone. You will not be sharing your time with other patients. You will not be handed off to a tech or assistant. You will not be doing generic exercises you could be doing at the gym or at home. We will give you the total body care you deserve.

Do I need a Doctor's prescription or referral for treatment?

No. According to Idaho state law, anyone can see a physical therapist through direct access without a doctor's prescription or referral.

Do you take insurance? How will I be reimbursed?

Our services may be covered depending on your out-of-network coverage. We are not in-network with any insurance companies. We will, upon request, provide you with receipts that you may submit to your insurance company. Many patients opt to use FSA/HSA dollars.

Why isn't my insurance billed? Did you know it can actually save you money?

Simply put- we don't bill insurance companies because we believe you deserve the best care. We provide a level of care that is above and beyond what insurance companies are currently willing to reimburse. At traditional physical therapy clinics, therapists typically see at least 2 patients per hour (and often times, more) and they use techs and assistants to provide much of the patient care. Care includes modalities such as heat, ultrasound, and generic exercises that can be done on your own time. Also, these types of clinics usually require patients to attend 2-3 appointments a week.

At Idaho Physio, we believe in giving you the best treatment, so you can have the best outcome. We believe hands-on, manual therapy is more effective than modalities.

At every appointment, you will receive one-on-one treatment from a Doctor of Physical Therapy. With this individual, personalized care, you will only need 1 appointment a week.

Consider the time you'll save by having 1 physical therapy appointment a week (while still resolving the problem quicker), consider the money you will be paying for 1 appointment instead of 3 co-pays (assuming your deductible is met), and consider the quality of care you'll receive from your treatment.
